What’s that tower going up near north Scottsdale?

The Hampton Group, a Scottsdale-based commercial real estate developer, is behind the 245-unit project called Ikonic Scottsdale.
Straddling the border between north Phoenix and Scottsdale, Ikonic joins a growing list of multifamily and mixed-use developments that surround both communities’ burgeoning Loop 101 corridor.
The large project is set to include a pool and spa, a game room, a golf simulator and private event space, all on the rooftop. Elsewhere in the building, there will be a fitness center, a co-working lounge and a coffee and beverage bar.
Inside the residences, tenants can expect quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, in-unit washers and dryers, wine refrigerators and private balconies with panoramic views of Scottsdale.
The apartments will have an average size of 1,062 square feet and range from one-, two-, and three-bedroom units.
Parking will also be available on three levels — two below ground — according to public records with the city of Phoenix.
History: The nearly 3-acre site on which the apartment tower will sit was purchased by Hampton for more than $12 million in December 2021, according to the real estate database Vizzda.
Phoenix approved Hampton’s site plan for Ikonic in March 2023 and issued building permits this past May.
In June, the New York-based commercial real estate finance company Greystone announced that it helped Hampton secure a $141 million construction loan, allowing the developer to break ground on the multifamily project.
When will the work be done? Hampton expects the apartment tower to open by 2028.
