Behind the Deal: Why Discount Tire Picked North Phoenix for its New HQ Campus

Scottsdale-based Discount Tire Co. embarked on a search that lasted years and spanned the Valley for its new office headquarters that will be located in north Phoenix.

The tire and wheel retailer plans to build a new office complex in north Phoenix near the Loop 101, State Route 51 and Tatum Boulevard, just west of the Mayo Clinic campus in an undeveloped desert area.

After Discount Tire won 35 acres of state trust land for $29.5 million in December, the company submitted pre-application and infrastructure documents with a conceptual site plan for its new headquarters to the city of Phoenix in early 2023.

These documents show the campus could eventually feature two five-story buildings totaling 600,000 square feet, but the first phase will be a 300,000-square-foot building.
