New Jersey Homebuilder Eyes Scottsdale Parcel Currently Zoned for Office

New Jersey-based Hovnanian Enterprises Inc. (NYSE: HOV) has filed a zoning request with the city of Scottsdale for a parcel of land that once was home to Rawhide Western Town and Steakhouse.

After Rawhide moved to the Gila River Indian Community south of Chandler in 2005, that 160 acres opened up for development of hundreds of residential units.

In 2010, Peoria-based Plaza Cos. and Chicago-based Vi Senior Living opened Vi at Silverstone, said Sharon Harper, chairman and CEO of Plaza Cos. Sitting on 33 acres at 23005 N. 74th St., Scottsdale, the award-winning senior care campus includes 274 independent living homes and 60 licensed units split between assisted living and memory care and skilled care, Harper said. It currently has a wait list.
