While the stores won’t be as small as bodegas, Austin-based Whole Foods Market — bought by Amazon.com Inc (Nasdaq: AMZN) in 2017 — announced March 4 that it has introduced a quick-shop concept called Whole Foods Market Daily Shop. The company will debut the format on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, with additional New York locations to follow. The first location is expected to open this year. Whole Foods Market, which has five locations in the Phoenix metro, also plans to roll them out in other cities across the country but didn’t specify its plans.
